Why We Need To Think

An essay on the importance of thinking

Why We Need To Think

Thinkers and believers, innovators and inventors, all played a crucial role in human history. We are the higher species, the smarter species, the species that can create and destroy life, make and break things, fight wars to kill each other, burn fossil fuels to drive vehicles, go to space, talk in languages and develop cultures. In short, we are the species that can do what not.

But to achieve all of this, we have to think—for only thinking can get us somewhere, someplace in life. We, humans, as a race, were pushed to the point we are in today because of thinking.

Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Buddha, Mahavira—they all thought—and because of their thoughts, we, today's humans, know how to reflect on ourselves.

Newton, Einstein, Marie-Curie, Darwin, Ramanujan—they all innovated—and because of their innovations, we, today's humans, are living the advanced life.

The point is, thinking is always important. Every single thing that we do in life, we can do only after thinking. It is essential in everyday life—for you cannot go even one day without thinking, even for a moment.

We have the status of 'the intelligent species' because we think. We think of the repercussions of our action, we think of strategies to accomplish something, we think of a process to complete a certain task, we think just because we can—and because of that, we, as a collective species, are the most intelligent on earth.

Think, think and think. Do not let anyone else do your thinking. You have a brain, and you must use it yourself. Avoid using artificial intelligence to think. While I am not asking you to not use AI for thinking and coming up with ideas, I am asking you to reduce it to a minimum. Only use AI to think 10% of the time—use your brain 90% of the time.

Thinking is an art, and you can be the artist—for the world is your canvas, and your brain is the tool. Go, make a change. Go down in history, do something for humanity. Because we all can, for we all are thinkers and believers, innovators and inventors.
